People actually read this? wow...

As you probably gathered from the title, I recently became aware that a few people (ok...one person) actually reads this blog.
If you're that one person, don't think I'm stalking you (so...where do you live? :p)
I just happened to be waiting in line at McDonalds (I'm still working on the healthy eating habits thing) and I heard this person who happened to be standing in front of me, mention this blog to her friend.
And I'm certain it was this one because she said something like, "Have you had a chance to look at that reflection blog thing I told you about. There was this thing about taylor swift on it"...so unless there are other people posting about taylor swift on a blog called 'Reflections', I can safety conclude it was me...not that I volunteered this info.
Of course she also mentioned something along the lines of, "She writes some weird stuff. I don't know why I even bother to read it"...so thanks for correcting my false impression that people might actually enjoy this blog.
Still, it's nice to know someone (who probably stumbled across this blog by accident) reads this and the strange things I post...feel free to comment by the way! :-)

So the strange topic of the day...my guitar! Yes-I did just say what you thought I said.
That's one more thing you know about me now-I play the guitar (yeah you probably don't care anyway but still!).
I have this acoustic guitar that's about 10 years old now. It's still in great condition (if you ignore the parts where the paint is slightly chipped of due to my careless handling of it in my younger years) and the most amazing thing (in my opinion) is that it's never had it's strings changed. They've never broken...until today!
I was trying to tune it today with my electric tuner and for some odd reason the tuner wouldn't pick up the first 'E' string (for those who don't know their way around the guitar, the strings from bottom to top are in the order EBGDAE).
The kind of tuner I have says both the string number (1 in this case) and the note name (E) but when I tried to tune this string, the tuner picked it up as the 5th string-A. I figured this was because it was so badly out of tune (I hadn't played the guitar in a while) so I started to wind up the tuning pegs for a higher pitch and suddenly, while I was testing out the sound, the string broke!
And the worst part was my hand was in the way so now I have a scar down my hand-it looks worse than it feels but let me tell you it is NOT fun to get cut by a thin, fine, metal wire!
My guitar, as you can imagine, is temporarily out of service until I get new strings put on it. But I'm contemplating buying a new guitar instead since this one is quite old already.
I'm not sure if the saying "Old is gold" is applicable for this one!

Songs that can get ya thinking!

I was at work today (as I am most days of the week being the stellar employee I am *cough*) and that old song 'Fearless' by Taylor Swift came on.
Strangely enough it got me thinking about this saying I once read somewhere:-

"A girl has 4 different personalities- for when she's by herself, with her family, with her friends, and with him".

I can't for the life of me think of where I heard it and I couldn't find it on the net so it probably isn't the actual saying but it's close enough for my point. I thought about how true this was.
Before you call me crazy or think I have too much time on my hands (which as a matter of fact I do at this moment), think about it again.
I'm not sure if it's the same for guys but for us girls, I think it rings true.
You might be the kind of person who sits and reads quietly when your by yourself or (like me) sings karaoke at the top of your voice in your room but I find that this side of me disappears when I'm with my family (probably the embarrassment of them commenting on my not-so-brilliant singing) or my friends.
My family get to see the happy, optimistic side of me while my friends might occasionally witness my wild side at parties. I haven't quite found 'the one' yet but chances are I'll probably be completely different with him if the trend holds up!
It's a weird thought and even stranger that I got the inspiration for this from a song by Taylor Swift.
So bottom line- listen to Swift's songs. Even though they're mostly about break-ups and revenge and teenage drama, some of them have real messages behind them (and no, I can't think of a single example right now...but that doesn't mean I'm not right *shifty eyes* lol)
Even if you get nothing out of the experience, I can guarantee that some of her songs (maybe even the ones you hate the most) will get stuck in your head. She's pretty good with catchy tunes!
So...a post that was meant to be about the strange thought I had during work has turned into a review of Taylor Swift's songs...and yes. I am aware that I fail at writing reviews.
Before I make an even bigger fool of myself by attempting to display talents I don't possess, I'll end this post until inspiration (and boredom) strikes again!

To blog or not to blog?

As a first-time blogger, I (like so many others before me) have started off with possibly one of the most cliched lines of all time. I think the reason so many people quote Shakespeare (or a modified version of it) is to sound smart and well-read.
I'm going to be honest- I actually have read Shakespeare but only because I was forced to in English class all through high school!
I personally think William Shakespeare was a very depressed person, who immersed himself in plays where the main protagonist almost always dies, to escape from his sad life. How's that for controversy?
I don't know- maybe I just don't get it because all his books are written in Old English and require too much translation for me to bother deciphering.
As for this blog; it's simply a way for me to rant and rave and reflect about nothing and everything...in other words-completely random!
So for my first blog post, I'll talk about this quote I found:-

Herbert Swope was a US journalist and this quote reflects my thoughts about this blog perfectly (and about life really!)
I'm just writing about things that happen in my week and things I find fascinating or interesting.
I don't mean to offend people or challenge their view but basically, I'm not writing to try and please others. It's just a way for me to relax.
